Lotto jackpot couple collect winnings
There was only one question on people's lips in Trim in the past week - just who was the lucky Lotto winner who scooped a massive jackpot of €4.5m in last Wednesday's draw? Speculation has been rife throughout the town as to who the winner was, with several names doing the rounds over the past week, including a local businessman. However, the winner has chosen to keep their big win secret. The winning ticket, which was a €4 quickpick, was purchased in Trim Post Office, Market Street, on the day of the draw. The winning couple, who have said they want to remain anonymous, collected their win of €4,654,790 from Lotto headquarters last Friday. The Meath couple, who both work full-time, one in the home and one outside, have a young family. According to a press release issued by the National Lottery, the lucky partner was in Navan doing some shopping when she decided to check her ticket and found out she had won over €4 million. "I checked my ticket in the ticket checker and the words 'Winner - contact National Lottery' came up on-screen. So I immediately contacted the Lottery. But it took some time before it really sank in just how much money we had won! It's still really hard to believe," said the lucky lady over a glass of champagne in National Lottery offices. The couple said their plans for their win included "upgrading the yacht, having some great Christmas festivities with friends and family, planning to take some time out, and doing a bit of travel". The mystery couple said they are looking forward to a very bright New Year. Trim Postmaster Padraig Whelan said they were delighted to have sold the winning ticket and said he wishes whoever bought the ticket the best of luck. Mr Whelan said there was a great buzz in the shop following the win.
