Car draw to fund Ratoath tennis court
A car draw to raise funds for all-weather floodlight tennis courts in Ratoath takes place on Saturday 18th April, when there will be a chance to win a Suzuki Swift from Brady"s Garage. Construction recently started on the four courts in Jamestown which are due to open in the summer. Some 40 family members have already joined the club and interest is growing. The vision is for a vibrant, well-run tennis club providing an opportunity for people of all ages to play tennis, compete in leagues, get coaching and to simply have lots of fun. The origins of the club go back 18 months following a meeting of like-minded tennis fans in Ratoath Community Centre in September 2007, hosted by centre manager Nick Killian. Cllr Killian, on behalf of the board of management of Ratoath Community Centre, offered the opportunity of using community lands in Jamestown. In order to help finance the building of the courts, the club is working with Brady"s Garage in Ratoath to raffle a Suzuki Swift car. The tickets are €20 and there are also other prizes, including a 32' flat screen TV, an Acer dual core laptop and a €1,500 holiday voucher. The draw is limited to only 2,500 tickets and takes place on 18th April in the community centre. Those interested in joining or who simply want more information on the club or contact details, should check out www.ratoathtennisclub.com Two other clubs in the locality are also running Easter draws. On Easter Sunday, the deferred house draw for Skryne GFC will go ahead, while on Easter Monday in Kilmessan, the hurling club"s draw for €20,000, to raise funds for the club grounds at Ringlestown, takes place.
