New stand at Páirc Táilteann to cost €5 million
Meath Co Board secretary Cyril Creavin has estimated that the construction of a new stand at Páirc Táilteann will cost in the region of €5 million although at the moment there's no guarantee money will be made available by the GAA authorities. "The stand that's there is obsolete. You are nearly throwing money away by trying to upgrade it a bit. It's really too steep and the steps are fairly high. We have no commitment go from either national or Leinster. I know funds are low everywhere," he told Irish Daily Star. "You are looking at in around €5 million. Look what they did below in Tullamore, and even though they got a reasonable deal, I think was in around €5 million. Down around McHale Park (Castlebar), that was mega money." The capacity of Páirc Táilteannwas reduced to 10,000 this year for health and safety reasons.
