'Stones in his Pockets" in Navan for three nights

Solstice Arts Centre has announced that the smash-hit play 'Stones in his Pockets" by Marie Jones will tour to Navan this September for three nights. 'Stones in his Pockets" is the award-winning, hilarious and sometimes poignant tale of a quiet Irish community and its change by the arrival of a big budget Hollywood movie shoot. Winner of the prestigious Olivier and Evening Standard awards for best comedy after running for four record breaking years in London"s West End, it also ran on Broadway, where it received a Tony Award nomination for best comedy. Universally loved by all who see it, 'Stones in his Pockets" has a disarming, simplistic charm all of its own. The story centres on locals Jake Quinn and Charlie Conlon who land jobs as extras on the film shoot. Jake is an out of work actor looking for a break while Charlie likes the free eats and hopes to pass his screenplay around during filming. The entire story is brought to life by two highly talented actors who play over 15 characters between them in a triumph of characterisation and physical comedy. From the two cheeky Irish lads intent on becoming big movie stars to the diva lead Hollywood actress, whose Irish accent leaves a lot to be desired, 'Stones In His Pockets" stands out as one of the funniest and moving plays of its times. Acclaimed Irish actor Simon Delaney, best remembered as Michael in RTE"s Bachelor"s Walk, will be performing in the play from 24th-26th September. Tickets are €22 and €18 concession rate.
