McGrane in good form

Kells golfer Damien McGrane has been in excellent form in recent weeks on the European Tour and currently lies in 72nd place in the Race To Dubai. McGrane will need to finish in the top 60 to earn his spot in the lucrative end of season showdown. Last weekend he earned €23,192 when finishing in a tie for 20th at the Celtic Manor Wales Open. The highlight of the weekend came on Saturday when the McGrane shot a 5-under par 66. His best finish of the year came when he finished tied 17th at the BMW PGA championship at Wentworth last month. This is one of the top events on the European tour and earned the Kells man €51,423. McGrane is currently ranked 220 on the official world golf rankings. He is set to compete in next months' British Open at St Andrew's as part of his two-year exemption following his China Open victory in 2008.
