Ballot paper mix-up in Trim

A mix-up at a polling station in Trim led to 51 people casting votes for Trim Town Council even though they were not entitled to a vote. Residents of Effernock Manor, Manorlands and Talbot Court were given ballot papers by mistake for the town council as well as the Trim electoral area, even though these estates are outside the Trim town electoral boundary. Two of the five ballot boxes for Trim Town Council were affected. It is understood that 38 votes were cast in error by residents in Manorlands and Effernock while 13 votes were cast in Talbot Court.
