Moya farrelly stars in eamonn norris comedy movie
Navan filmmaker Eamonn Norris and actor Moya Farrelly, also from Navan, recently wrapped principal photography on the comedy movie ‘Making It’, filmed in Co Kerry this summer.
The comedy film tells the story of Mike McMahon, a family man who loses his job and decides to enter a film making competition to win a big cash prize. With little talent but large ambition, his efforts soon land him in trouble with both sides of the law.
Mike is played by Galway actor Seamus Hughes who has acted in Ros Na Rún (TG4), Rasaí na Gaillimhe (TG4), Ken Loach’s ‘Jimmy’s Hall’ and will appear in the new Irish western ‘An Klondike’ which starts on TG4 this week and was the closing film at the Galway Film Fleadh this year.
Moya Farrelly who grew up on Brews Hill, Navan plays the lead female part of Linda McMahon, Mike’s long suffering but supportive wife.
Moya starred in the movie ‘This is my Father’ with Aidan Quinn and James Cann as well as several television shows in Ireland like Bachelors Walk (RTE), Single Handed (RTE) and the Running Mate (TG4). Moya’s daughter Kaylin also appears in the film in her first major acting role.
Eamonn Norris directed the film. He also co-wrote it with frequent collaborator Fred O’Connor. The film was produced by the Kerry Educational Training Board, Broadcast production Course in Tralee.
“Brian Nolan (executive producer) came to me with the idea of making a feature film and we spent almost a year developing it. The crew was made up of a mixture of industry professionals and the trainees from the course”.
“I was an usher at Diamond Cinema in Navan when ‘This is my Father’ had its premiere there in 1999. Moya and I later worked on the TV show ‘Single Handed’ together so it was brilliant to get to work with her again on ‘Making It’.”
‘Making it’ will screen at film festivals around the world in the coming months as well as selected screenings around Ireland.
