Major disappointment for Meath minors

There was bitter disappointment for Meath when they lost 0-12 to 0-15 to the auld enemy Dublin in the Leinster MFC at Parnell Park today.

The Meath side put in a strong display but were unable to get the better of a Dublin team who were always able to come up with a score or two when required.

Syddan’s Daire Rowe capped an impressive display for Meath with six points, four of them from frees, while Darren Heaney and Dylan Brady (0-2) were the only other two Meath forwards to get on the scoresheet.

While Meath competed well at midfield, with Kyle Dixon (pictured) to the the fore with some high fielding skills, the forwards were often left to feed off scraps of possession.

Dublin, who registered 12 wides to Meath’s five, always seemed to have more options although only two of their forwards, Jack Burke and Con O’Callaghan, managed to score from play.

At the break Eoin Carroll's side trailed 0-6 to 0-7 and while they twice hauled themselves back on level terms in the second-half they were unable to push ahead and seal the win they sought.

Instead Dublin went on to win despite having two players shown black cards in the closing stages.
