Hometown launch concert for Nigel Connell album

Athboy's Nigel Connell releases his debut album 'Nothing Left To Say' on Friday of next week, 16th April, via iTunes and record stores nationwide, with a full band gig in the Old Darnley Lodge Hotel in Athboy on 19th April. Connell was born into a musical family, the youngest of five and once he could walk, it meant he could talk and eventually sing, so into the family band he went, where his skills as a drummer and singer developed. His first live performance was at the age of 13, and he later joined the The Legendary Cotton Mill Boys, going on his first tour at the age of 15. Addicted to the stage, Connell went on to play with top Irish acts Matt Leavy, TR Dallas, Sean O'Farrell and Marc Roberts, and played support to Tammy Wynette, Don Williams, Ricky Skaggs, Johnny Cash, June Carter, Martina McBride, Randy Travis, Vince Gill, Steve Earle, Glen Campbell and John Denver, as well as numerous television appearances and radio performances. By his 20s, Nigel Connell was well accustomed to the country music scene, but decided it was time for a change and began touring with Eurovision winner Linda Martin. Louis Walsh encouraged him to enter the Eurosong Contest in 1999, where the experience was enough incentive for Nigel to begin work on his own recordings and ignited his singing and songwriting career. Connell soon got a starring role on Rebecca Storms 'Streisand Songbook' and performed alongside her in Dublin's Gaiety Theatre. Connell provided stunning harmony vocals on albums such as Liam Lawton's 'Another World' and 'Time', and toured Ireland, Britain and America as a special guest on Lawton's sell out shows. He also recorded 'Silence and the Sorrow' on Lawton's DVD 'Live in Kilkenny' and has performed in venues such as New York's Carnegie Hall and Chicago's Old St Patrick's Church. Connell's debut album 'Nothing Left to Say' is embellished by an evident romantic and classical feel to it throughout, yet wholly embraces his vocal capability and sentiment as a performer, with orchestral performances by The Irish Session Orchestra and the Mullingar Cathedral Choir. Each track has a different edge, with preludes that introduce a world of music that has no boundaries. Connell recently joined Daniel O'Donnell's band as drummer and backing vocalist. See www.myspace.com/nigelconnellmyspace or http://twitter.com/NigelConnell.
