Death of Warrenstown College's Jack Irwin
The death has occurred of Jack Irwin, who was a popular woodwork teacher in the former Warrenstown College of Agriculture in Drumree.
Aged 85, he lived at Roestown, Drumree, and was very involved in parish and community activities around Dunshaughlin. He had a key role in the committee which saw the building of the present Church of Ss Patrick and Sechnall in Dunshaughlin, particularly in moving the altar from the old parish church in the village.
He was also involved in the Civil Defence, and was part of the Warrenstown Remembered group that organised reunions of the college staff and past students, and is currently in the process of publishing a history of the former Salesian college.
Jack Irwin passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on 11th April. Beloved husband of the the late Bryde and loving father of Mary, Emer, John, Deirdre and sons and daughter-in-law, he is sadly missed by his family, grandchildren, brothers and sister, family and wide circle of neighbours and friends.
He is reposing at his home in Roestown, Drumree from 7pm to 9pm on Tuesday 12th April, and Wednesday, 13th April, from 2pm to 8pm. Funeral Mass on Thursday, 14th April, at 12 noon in Dunshaughlin, with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
