Tweedy dum tweedy dee!

The Eddie Lynam-trained Tweedy got her head in front at Naas tonight after making a promising racecourse debut behind Laldie at Fairyhouse last Wednesday night. Tweedy was sent off the favourite last week and is a half-sister to Lynam's talented Duff, which has won Listed and Group 3 races for the Dunshaughlin trainer. At Naas tonight Tweedy won a maiden for Wayne Lordan who pulled clear inside the final furlong for a four-length victory. Kiltale-based handler Ger Lyons and his jockey Keagan Latham were also on the mark when Solent Ridge carried top weight to take the Fishery Lane Handicap. The duo hit the front over a furlong out for a comfortable success. Dunboyne jockey Padraig Beggy, who shed his claim last week, visited the winners' enclosure when Feis Ceoil won a great battle with Ice Empress while Ardee handler Harry Rogers was also smiling after 20/1 shot Cheval Rouge was first past the post in a handicap. Meath Chronicle readers are reminded to enter our competition for tickets to Bellewstown next week. Details of the competition are on page eight of this week's Sports Section.
