Here comes the Judge

Castletown trainer Noel Meade sends his giant novice chaser Judge Deed to Ballinrobe today seeking his first win over the major obstacles. Writing in his Meath Chronicle racing column this week, Meade reported that Judge Deed had a wind operation since his last race, but the trainer also expressed reservations about the suitability of the Mayo track for such a big horse. If Judge Deed comes through the race without any problems he will be aimed at Punchestown next week. His last run was at Down Royal on St Stephen's Day where he finished second to Hume River in a beginners' chase. Judge Deed is owned by a syndicate which includes former Meath footballer Colm O'Rourke. The two-mile, six-furlong race is due to start at 7.10pm this evening.
