Ombudsman probe into Kells motorcycle road death of Navan man

The Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) has confirmed this week that it commenced an investigation into a fatal road accident last Saturday evening of a 21-year-old Navan man. The man died in Our Lady"s Hospital, Navan (OLHN), where he was taken after a collision between his motorcycle and a Garda squad car from Kells last weekend. The accident, which occurred on the Cavan Road, outside Kells, around 6pm on Saturday last, led to the death of Gary Tully, Silverlawns, Navan. The matter was referred to GSOC by the Garda Commissioner under Section 102 of the Garda Siochana Act 2005. Acting Chief Superintendent for Louth\Meath, Michael Devine, stated yesterday (Tuesday) that he had met people from the Garda Siochana Ombudsman office on Sunday morning at the scene of the tragic accident but could not reveal any further details of the accident. Deceased is survived by his parents, Mrs Ruth and Mr Davie Tully, Silverlawns, Navan, his daughter, Hannah and partner, Ailbhe; sister, Rachel, her partner, Brian, his nephew Jake, grandparents and relatives. It is understood that he died at OLHN at around 8.45pm on Saturday last. The remains are to be removed tomorrow (Thursday) at 10.15am to St Oliver"s Church, Blackcastle, Navan, arriving for 11am Mass there and burial afterwards in Boyerstown Cemetery.
