Tiger Roll pulled up at Cheltenham

The Gordon Elliott-trainer Tiger Roll returned to jumping action today at Cheltenham in the Glenfarclas Cross Country Handicap Chase with Robbie Power on board, but didn't sparkle on this occasion and was pulled up after the 20th.

“Tiger Roll was never travelling. He never had a cut at his fences, I pulled him up because he was never in a rhythm,” stated Robbie Power.

Tiger Roll had returned to action in a flat race at Navan two weeks ago in a prep race for the trip to Cheltenham today.

Today at CheltenhamFrench raider Easysland, which beat Tiger Roll at Cheltenham last March, was sent off a

red-hot 8/11 favourite following that commanding win in the Glenfarclas

Cross Country Chase, but could only finish fourth.

The presence of top weight Tiger Roll meant that the eventual winner, Kingswell Theatre,

lined up 18lb out of the handicap.

However, the Michael Scudamore-trained 11-year-old made every

yard of the running to repeat a victory in the race in 2017.
