Clones next stop in Meath's All-Ireland camogie bid

Meath camogie players and selectors will be on their travels again this week for the fourth successive time after recording a first round victory away to Kerry on Saturday 31st October.

Meath will now be will be heading to a venue in Ulster for the third successive week.

The Meath women have taken the scenic route to Saturday's All-Ireland Intermediate Camogie semi-final after they failed to negotiate Antrim at Inniskeen in Monaghan two weeks ago.

Meath squandered a chance of making it directly to the last four when they delivered a disappointing performance against Antrim and lost out by four points (2-9 to 1-16).

That put them into a back-door type of system against Derry who had defeated Kildare by 1-15 to 0-5 in a Group B (losers group) encounter to get back into contention.

Meath defeated Derry at Templeport GAA in Cavan on Sunday and the reward now is a trip to the cavernous St Tiernach's Park in Clones for a behind-closed-doors semi-final showdown against Down.

The final will be played on Sunday 5th December - Meath or Down v Antrim or Laois.

Meath won the All-Ireland Intermediate title in 2017 with a replay victory against Cork at the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick, but were relegated to the intermediate grade for this year after losing a relegation play-off against Wexford at Clane last year.

Meath won the All-Ireland Premier Junior title in 2012 when they negotiated Down in the Croke Park decider.
