Four to contest Admiral of the Boyne

Four candidates will compete in the 2008 Admiral of the Boyne fundraising campaign in aid of Meath Rehab and will be busy over the coming weeks raising funds for the charity. The fundraiser was officially launched last week by Michael Smyth, chairman of Rehab"s Meath County Committee. Rehab area organiser Ciaran Macken introduced the four candidates - Pat Fogarty, Navan, Dara Englishby, Athboy, Maria Murphy, Dunboyne and Larry Kinsella, Kentstown. He thanked the candidates and appealed to the people of Meath to help them in their endeavours over the next ten weeks. Mr Macken recalled that over the past 25 years, well over 100 people in the county had been candidates in the Admiral of the Boyne and they had raised much needed revenue for the work of Rehab. Mr Smyth also thanked the four candidates for going forward and said they were carrying on a great tradition of fundraising for the work of Rehab in the county. The reigning Admiral, Brian Curran, was also on hand to wish the candidates well in their efforts for a very good cause.
