Toxicology report still awaited on Cloverhill couple

Bodies of deceased released following post mortems

The outcome of the toxicology tests carried out on the bodies of two people found dead at a rural farmhouse earlier this month is still not known.

The reports are still awaited by An Garda Síochána who have said that the results of the post mortems will guide their investigation into the couple’s, as yet, unexplained deaths.

The bodies of Rolandas Jarmalavicius and Rita Martinkiene were discovered at the remote rural home the couple rented in the townland of Drumbrawn, near Cloverhill, on Sunday evening, February 7.

Aged in their 40s and originally from Lithuania, the couple had been living in the area for much of the last decade and worked across the border grading and packing eggs for a poultry producer in Fermanagh. They had not been seen for several weeks, and family had become concerned for their well-being.

Mr Jarmalavicius has family living locally. However An Garda Síochána were working with Interpol to make contact with Ms Martinkiene’s family in Lithuania.

The bodies of Mr Jarmalavicius and Ms Martinkiene were taken to Our Lady’s Hospital in Navan where the post mortems were carried out last week. The bodies have since been released.

Sources say officers are keeping an “open mind” as to what may have contributed to the couple’s untimely deaths, but accidental poisoning is one line of investigation being probed as to what may have caused or contributed to their deaths.
