Meath CCC resign

The Meath Competitions Control Committee (CCC) have resigned their positions en block arising out of their decision to award SFC points to Simonstown following St Patrick's failure to play their first round fixture. The CCC believed that they had plenary powers to rule on the St Patrick's v Simonstown fixture, but when a Hearings Committee was called to allow St Patrick's appeal against the decision to award the points from the game to Simonstown the seven-person committee resigned. The CCC had refused to grant St Patrick's a postponement of their game against Simonstown following the death of Club President and Trustee Jimmy Curran and awarded the game to the Navan side. However, after the CCC failed to appear to put their case forward to the Hearings Committee a decision was made to overturn that ruling and a re-fixture has been made.
