Funding for Nobber/Castletown Greenway announced
Funding of €500,000 for the Nobber/Castletown Greenway has been announced this morning by Minister Heather Humphreys.
The funding is the the development of a section of the Navan to Kingscourt Greenway along the old railway line to link the existing looped walks around the villages of Nobber and Castletown.
Minister Helen McEntee said; "This investment is another huge boost to tourism, health and recreation in this part of North Meath. It will be a great resource for the people of this locality and further afield too.
"It is also a great vindication of the many years of campaigning by Cllr Eugene Cassidy working with Meath County Council and many other local volunteers. It’s another step toward the Boyne Valley to Lakelands County Greenway.
"It’s great to see plans becoming a reality soon thanks to this investment by Government today”, said Minister McEntee.
Cllr Eugene Cassidy said; "This funding will join up the two existing loops in Nobber and Castletown to make a 10km stage, this is very welcome and positive and a huge step forward for the Boyne Valley to Lakelands County Greenway. I'm absolutely delighted with this announcement today, thanks to Minister McEntee and Minister Humphreys for their on-going support" said Councillor Eugene Cassidy.
