Lady does the job for Cillian McConnell
The McConnell clan certainly enjoyed the drive home from Sligo this evening with a winner on board in what was a real family success.
Cillian McConnell claiming 10 did enough to shade the verdict by a neck with Lady Georgie which is owned by his aunt, Debbie McConnell.
To complete the triangle Lady Georgie is trained by John McConnell from his base near Bellewstown racecourse and the winning jockey is the son of the trainer.
It was second success for Cillian McConnell who is combining that role with his studies and it was a first win at the 12th attempt for the four-year-old filly.
The previous best was a third place finish at Dundalk last December.
