Killian appointed to planning forum
Ratoath's Cllr Nick Killian has been nominated to represent on the views of county councillors on the government's new planning advisory forum.
The independent councillor and his colleagues in the forum will have a major input into the review of planning legislation.
Cllr Killian is Vice President of the Association of Irish Local Government and has been nominated to the forum, under the auspices of the Department of Local Government and Housing.
He exlains that in September, Government launched Housing for All, which aims to boost the supply of housing to 2030, to increase availability and affordability of housing, and to create a sustainable housing system into the future.
“ Its aim is for everyone to have access to housing to purchase or rent at an affordable price, built to a high standard, and located close to essential services,” he said.
The Planning Advisory Forum will be the primary vehicle for stakeholder engagement throughout this process and Minister Peter Burke in his role as Minister of State with responsibility for Planning and Local Government will chair the Forum.
||”The aim of the forum will be to engage with stakeholders on themes to input into the review,” said Cllr Killian.
The Forum will have a wide stakeholder membership to reflect the evolving policy and legal agenda, with representatives from a broad range of sectors, including representation from the public sector, business, environmental, social and knowledge based sectors.
The Government has set an ambitious target for completion of the Planning Review by December 2022 and as such it is envisaged that the Planning Advisory Forum will meet monthly or as needed over the coming year to achieve this aim.
