1,600 women waiting on gynaecology appointments at local hospitals

Over 1,300 women are currently waiting for a gynaecology appointment at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, while 300 are on the waiting list for an appointment at Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, recent figures have revealed.

Deputy Sorcha Clarke requested figures for a breakdown of the number of women on the waiting lists for gynaecology appointments in hospitals around the country and the response revealed that over 30,800 women are waiting for appointments nationally.

A total of 1,383 women are waiting for appointments at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and the average waiting time as of 27th January was 159 days, up from 153 at the end of December.

At Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, 306 women are on the waiting list and the average wait time as of 27th January was 390 days, up from 373 days at the end of December 2021.

Nationally, Tallaght University Hospital had the biggest waiting list with 3,051 on its waiting list with an average wait time of 652 days.
