Delight in Laytown with work on new school underway
Pupils and staff of Scoil an Spioraid Naoimh in Laytown have moved to their new temporary premises while their new school building is under construction.
Demolition work is taking place on the old school building, which will be replaced by a new school on the same site.
A 24-classroom building will replace the old 16 classroom primary school.
“This is great news for the community. It has been a long time coming,” says Cllr Sharon Tolan.
“Over the last few years, the school has been bursting at the seams. They have had to use the library and other facilities as classrooms.
“It is great that this is finally happening and it is expected to take 62 weeks to complete.
Scoil an Spioraid Naoimh is currently accommodated in temporary accommodation beside the junior primary school, Scoil Oilibhéir Naofa.
The accommodation has in the past acted as a temporary home for Scoil Oilibhéir Naofa, Colaiste na hInse, Drogheda Educate Together and Youthreach.
