New secondary school planned for Gormanston
A PLANNING application has been lodged with Meath County Council for the construction of a new school building for Gormanston College to cater for 1,000 students.
The board of management Of Franciscan College, Gormanston, is seeking permission for a new two-storey 37-classroom school to include a general purpose hall, a multi-use hall, a special needs unit, library, staff rooms and all ancillary accommodation.
The building will also include photovoltaic panels at roof level. The school grounds will provide five hard surface ball courts, three grass sports pitches, outdoor seating and breakout areas, sensory garden, tech yard, refuse store, and a substation.
The development also includes a set down area for buses; 96 car parking spaces, including of five disabled spaces as well as 360 cycle parking spaces.
The 8.38 hectares site is located on the Stamullen Road, Gormanston.
