Gardaí continue to investigate CMX assault

Incident occurred on the old Ardee road on August 1.

Gardaí are continuing to investigate circumstances behind a serious assault which occurred earlier this month which left the victim requiring medical treatment.

The assailant, gardaí believe, was in the company of a number of other males when the incident occurred at approximately 2:40am on the old Ardee road in the Monaghan town of Carrickmacross on August 1.

The injured party had been walking towards the main street when he was assaulted.

Gardaí are asking that anyone who may have witnessed the incident or can assist them with their inquiries to contact gardaí in Carrickmacross at 042 9690190.

“The Gardai in Carrickmacross continue to investigate an assault that occurred on the Monday morning, 1st August,” they said in a post shared on social media. “The incident occurred at approximately 2:40am on the old Ardee road. The injured party was walking towards the main street when he was assaulted. The assailant was in the company of a number of other males.”
