Library and park plans for 3.2 acre Ratoath site

Meath County Council has bought a 3.2 acre site in the centre of Ratoath for community use.

The council is proposing to build a library, carpark and park on the land, which is opposite SuperValu on the Dunshaughlin Road.

Cllr Nick Killian welcomed the news. "As a long serving councillor for Ratoath and cathaoirleach of the County Council I am delighted. It is something I have been working on for 20 years."

"Funding for the project has come from the Town Renewal Fund as well as from the council's own resources.

"I am really pleased that this has finally come to pass for the people of Ratoath and we can move forward with plans to develop it in 2023.

"These are badly needed facilities for Ratoath. We do not have our own library - the nearest are Dunshaughlin and Ashbourne. We have no park facilities. Hopefully this can become a place of great benefit for the people of Ratoath.

"We are an ever-growing village and I hope that these new facilities will cater for everyone from the very young to the very old, and it is in a very central location.

"I want to reassure the residents of Dunboyne that there will be consultations taking place on how this land can be used.

"I have been lobbying for this for years and I want to thank the senior management of Meath County Council for their support in purchasing these lands at this time," he said.
