What's On the Box this week

'Six Nations Rugby: Ireland v France" (RTE 2, Saturday) - It"s almost a quarter of a century since Ireland last won the Six Nations (or Five Nations as it was then known) Championship, although we"ve come agonisingly close on several occasions in recent years - most notably in 2006 and 2007, only to be beaten on points difference on both occasions by today"s opponents. France have been the most successful team since the turn of the century with four titles and have had the upper hand over Ireland in that time - beating them in the last five Championships and also twice in the World Cup. One man Irish fans will be hoping won"t be on the France team sheet today is winger Vincent Clerc, whose last-gasp try secured victory for Les Bleus in 2007, and whose first-half hat trick put his side out of reach at the Stade de France last year. 'The World"s Most Enhanced Woman And Me" (CH4, Wednesday)- Broadcaster Mark Dolan comes face to face with human extremes once more as he goes in search of some of the world"s most incredible individuals. But finding these people is just the start of his mission. His real journey in this series is to discover how and why some people can become extraordinary, even if they"re not always born that way to begin with. Back in the '90s, Lolo Ferrari was a worldwide phenomenon, regularly parading her huge four-litre breasts on television but, since her death in 2000, what has happened to the big breast scene? Are there other women out there who have gone under the knife and enhanced their assets to the same extent? And why would any woman go to such extremes? Dolan is on a mission to find out. Not really understanding the attraction of these ridiculously large breasts himself, he travels to Las Vegas and Brazil in search of the most enhanced women in the world. By meeting and talking to them, he uncovers the real reason why these women have gone through such extreme transformations and the risks they take to go so big. 'On The Street Where You Live" (RTE 1, Friday) - Limerick people are passionate defenders of their city. O"Connell Street was once famous for its churches and spires. Now, local residents and workers talk of a new religion - Munster rugby. Contributors include a woman who saw the man who would become her husband for the first time on O"Connell Street, and later asked him to dance for 'Ladies" Choice" in Cruises Hotel. Her husband persuaded her to join the family jewellery business, and she helped it thrive despite the challenges that came with being a businesswoman. Then, there"s a regular of The White House Pub for 50 years or so, although now he just sticks to coffee. Joe Malone fought the famous Todds department store fire of 1959, but tough times followed and he left Limerick in the 1980s as it was 'dead". Joe returned from London 14 years later to find the place had become far too material. 'Around The World In 80 Faiths" (BBC 2, Friday) - This week, Pete Owen Jones travels from the Nepalese Himalayas to the south of India to make sense of the mystery of Indian religions, as his epic journey examining belief around the world continues. He finds out about the transmigration of the soul, karma, the pantheon of gods and the high regard for gurus. He visits a Tibetan Buddhist monastery high in the mountains, and in Calcutta he takes part in the colourful Durga Puja festival and meets the Agori who live amongst the dead. Jones then travels to the deserts of Rajastan, where he finds Hindu sects ready to walk on fire or even pay the ultimate price for their gurus. In Mumbai, he attends a Zoroastrian marriage and investigates why one of the world"s oldest religions is in danger of disappearing. He discovers how Sikhism had a violent birth as he attends the 300th anniversary of its greatest guru"s death, and then journeys south to learn about Jainism, a remarkable faith which renounces violence against every living creature. Finally, he spends Diwali in a tiny village at a dung-slinging festival, with inevitable results. Movie Of The Week: 'The Sentinel" (RTE 1, Wednesday) - Starring Michael Douglas, Kiefer Sutherland and Kim Basinger, the story centres on a Secret Service agent blackmailed for having an affair with the First Lady and framed for treason against the President. Full of tricks and double-bluffs, this one"s a winner.
