Carnaross Drama Group bringing 'Kevin's Bed' to the local stage this week
Emboldened by the success of their post covid “comeback” production last year, Carnaross drama group is very excited and eagerly looking forward to staging 'Kevin's Bed' by Bernard Farrell.
Kevin’s Bed is a memory play of reminiscence, expectations and dampened dreams. It is the golden wedding anniversary of Dan and Doris – they return to their old house to celebrate and remember their happy silver anniversary. They contemplate a life in disarray and the optimism and the hopes they had for their sons, John and Kevin. Internal tensions are exposed but; is it also an opportunity to restore family relationships and affections?
This fast moving, witty, classic comedy written by Bernard Farrell was lauded as being “Bernard's best play to date” by the Irish Times when it opened in the Abbey Theatre in 1998.
The cast of Annmarie Brogan, Eileen Lynch, Paul Corcoran, Naoise Reilly, Sean Skelly, Gillian Brogan, John McKenna and Tanya Farrelly, have researched, recited and rehearsed to produce a very powerful and convincing performance.
As always, the set design is second to none and portrays the good will and skill of the community in Carnaross, who together with the production team, the committee and the cast have once again beavered through the winter to bring a professional, pleasing and provocative performance to the stage.
The show opens in the community centre Carnaross on Friday 17th February and runs over two weekends, 17-19th and 24-26th February at 8pm.
