Ukrainians to gather at Meath vigils to mark first anniversary of Russian invasion

The Ukrainian community in Oldcastle is inviting the public to attend special mass, which will be held in St Brigid's Church on Friday night to mark the first anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The mass will take place at St Brigid’s Church at 7pm.

"One long year has now passed since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Unfortunately the situation remains critical in our country and so we invite everyone to pray and show their support for Ukraine," says Tetiana Tsarenko.

"Fr Ray Kelly will celebrate Mass and the Ukrainian community in Oldcastle will also make a presentation about the situation in their country - about those who are fighting for Ukrainian freedom and victory," she said.

"We will be giving thanks for the help and support we have received from Ireland and the Irish people at this difficult time.

"We particularly invite anyone who can help to share information about the situation in Ukraine and request support Ukrainian soldiers and their families," says Tetiana who can be contacted at tatianaart6765@gmail.com.
