35,800 premises in Meath now covered by high-speed fibre broadband
Over 35,800 premises in Meath are now covered by high-speed fibre broadband as telecommunications provider eir reaches its landmark one million milestone nationwide.
According to the company, 35,899 homes and businesses in Meath now have access to the network following investment of more than €32 million by eir in the county. On completion, 66,000 premises in Meath will be fibre enabled.
The roll-out programme in Meath is 54 per cent complete, giving local communities and businesses access to internet speeds of up to 10gbps, roughly 100 times faster than the average connection.
eir has committed to rolling out its Gigabit Broadband network to 1.9 million front doors, or 84 per cent of homes and businesses in Ireland, by the end of 2026.
