Status Orange weather warning in effect for Meath

A Status Orange Snow and Ice warning is now in effect for Meath as well as Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Clare, Connacht, Longford, Louth, Westmeath until 10am tomorrow.

Met Éireann has issued two Status Orange warnings for snow and ice covering eight counties along with Connacht and Leinster over the next 24 hours.

People are being advised of further spells of sleet and snow combined with strong east to northeast winds, which could lead to very hazardous road conditions, travel disruption and poor visibility.

Significant accumulations of snow are expected in some areas along with icy conditions, the forecaster said.

A second Status Orange Snow and Ice warning will come into effect for Leinster from midnight tonight until 10am tomorrow.
