Bohermeen CC gearing up for big weekend of cycling

Bohermeen roads will be the height of activity over this weekend, Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd April when Bohermeen Cycling Club host both Mick Beggan Memorial Shield and the 86th Waller Cup races. The main sponsor of the event is Cosgrove Electrical Services.
On Saturday the circuit is 7.5km with rolling start from community centre to start / finish at Bohermeen National School. The loop then goes down The Well Road, to Grange, Greetiagh, Bog Cross and back to Bohermeen NS. The race starts at 12am for underage (u-12, u-14 and u-16) and 2pm for seniors (A1, A2, A3, A4, juniors and ladies) which will be a handicap race. The seniors will loop the 7.5km eight times with winner presented with the Mick Beggan Memorial Shield.
On Sunday the circuit is 16.5km for all races (except u-12) with rolling start off the New Line via Ladys Road, Ardbraccen, Greetiagh, Bohermeen Bog, Athboy/Navan road and Boyerstown. The u-12 races will be held on a separate 5.5km circuit.
Races will start at 10am with youth (u-12, u-14 and u-16), Ladies and A4 races. The u-u-16 race is a selection race for the European Youth Olympics.
In afternoon at 1pm will be A1, A2 and A3/Junior races. The A1/A2 will cover the circuit eight times with the winner taking home the Waller Cup.
It will be great weekend for spectators to see some of the top cyclists from around Ireland converge into the parish of Bohermeen. Great viewing points on the circuit are at the end of New Line, Greetiagh Hill and finish line (300m up the New Line).
Online registration is required for all races with links available on the Bohermeen Cycling Club facebook page with registration closing on Friday.
