Feedback sought over planned development of recreational park in Laytown

The creation of a boardwalk over the dunes and an open public space for music events and gatherings are just some of the ideas among the development plans for Ninch, Laytown.

Meath County Council intend to make an application to An Bord Pleanála for approval to carry out development of a town park which comprises of the following:

"The creation of formal and informal play spaces.

"The provision of new pathways and improvement of existing pathways including a new pedestrian road crossing and a boardwalk over the dunes.

"The creation of an open space for flexible-use (events, gathering, markets, leisure, informal sport games).

"All site works associated with the proposed development including landscaping, signage and street furniture."

Meath County Council are accepting submissions from the public until 16th August, relating to:

"The implications of the proposed development for the proper planning and sustainable development of the area concerned.

"The likely effects on the environment of the proposed development.

"The likely significant effects of the proposed development on a European site, if carried out."

A Natura Impact Statement has also been prepared in respect of the proposed development:

"An Bord Pleanála may approve the proposed development in whole or in part, with or without specified modifications, or it may refuse to approve the proposed development.
