Cloudy but humid day ahead but blustery conditions on the way

Generally unsettled and breezy through the weekend with rain or showers, heavy at times. Temperatures around or slightly above average for the time of year. Better dry spells indicated for early next week.

A good deal of cloud this morning with some patchy drizzle, mist and fog, most prevalent in southern areas. Just occasional sunny spells today, and becoming breezy with moderate to fresh southeast winds. Early this afternoon, rain will develop in the southwest and will track northeastwards across the country through the rest of the day bringing some heavy falls. Highs of 18 to 23 degrees, coolest in the southwest.

Showery rain at first tonight across the north and east will be heavy for a time before clearing overnight. Moderate to fresh southerly winds will ease allowing mist and hill fog to form. Clear spells and some showers will follow, with winds strengthening again along Atlantic coasts by morning. Temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees.

Blustery tomorrow (Friday) with sunny spells and scattered showers, some heavy. Best of dry spells will be towards the southeast. Southwesterly winds will be strong on Atlantic coasts, moderate to fresh and gusty elsewhere. It will become cloudy in the west later ahead of rain arriving early Friday night. Highs of 17 to 22 degrees, mildest in the east.

A good deal of cloud overnight on Friday with showery outbreaks of rain in the west becoming widespread, heaviest over the western half of the country. Temperatures not falling below 13 to 15 degrees in moderate to fresh southerly winds.

Showery outbreaks of rain will clear eastwards through Saturday morning, followed by sunny spells along with heavy and thundery showers, especially in the west and north with localised flooding possible. Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees in moderate, occasionally fresh, southwesterly winds.

Showers or longer spells of rain will continue overnight on Saturday with further localised flooding possible. Temperatures not falling below 10 to 14 degrees in mostly moderate southwest winds.

Sunday will see a mix of sunny spells and widespread showers. The showers will likely merge to longer spells of rain in the north and west. Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees in mostly moderate southwesterly winds.

Sunny spells and scattered showers expected again on Monday, some heavy. Highest temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees in mostly light to moderate westerly breezes.

Current indications suggest that there will be further showers through midweek but with plenty of dry intervals.
