Teams get ready for crunch quarter-final ties

Relegation battles also to be decided

The quest for the various championship titles is really starting to pick up pace with fixtutres now released by the Co Board involving the various teams.

The first of the Fairyhouse Steel SFC quarter finals will take place under the floodlights in Skryne on Friday 8th September when St. Colmcille’s, who topped Group C, take on Donaghmore/Ashbourne who relied upon score difference to qualify from Group A.

The SFC quarter final action continues on Saturday when 2016 and 2017 champions Simonstown take on 2021 winners Wolfe Tones at 5.15pm in Pairc Tailteann, a game which will be preceded by the meeting of Walterstown and Rathkenny in the first of the Meade Farm IFC quarter finals at 3.15pm.

The two remaining SFC quarter finals will take place on Sunday, 10th September with one game in Pairc Tailteann and the second in Ashbourne. The Navan fixture will take place at 4pm when Summerhill and Trim meet in an eagerly awaited clash, also at 4pm, while the focus of the county on the Sunday evening will be on Ashbourne when Dunshaughlin and Ratoath bring the weekends action to a close at 7.30pm. The curtain raiser that afternoon in Navan will be the meeting of Duleek-Bellewstown and Meath Hill at 2pm.

The two remaining Meade Farm IFC quarter finals will take place at club venues with Seneschalstown and Dunsany playing host. St. Patrick’s who lost out on penalties at this stage last year will meet Castletown in Seneschalstown while Dunsany will play host to Navan O’Mahonys and Ballivor in the fourth and final last eight encounter.

The action throws in on the Thursday with two Relegation quarter finals in the Meade Farm sponsored IFC with Carnaross and Paddy O’Brien Park playing host to Drumbaragh Emmets v Longwood and Blackhall Gaels v Nobber respectively.

The third of the IFC relegation quarter finals is in Moynalty on the Friday evening when Dunderry and St. Michael’s bid to preserve their status, with the fourth and final game being a High Noon showdown in Drumbaragh on Sunday as Bective and Oldcastle look to avoid the added pressure of having to prepare for a semi-final on the weekend of September 23th/24th.

The Fairyhouse Steel SFC relegation quarter finals get underway on the Saturday evening when Ballinabrackey and Skryne who are the longest serving senior club in the county meet in Summerhill at 5pm. Later that evening at 7.30pm, , Batterstown plays host for the floodlit encounter of Na Fianna and Seneschalstown.

There are then two games on Sunday with both throwing in at 12.0. Walterstown is the destination for St. Peter’s, Dunboyne and Gaeil Colmcille, with both clubs having a short spin on the M3 to the match while Dunshaughlin hosts the game between Moynalvey and Curraha.
