Funeral details for Cllr Damien O'Reilly announced

Funeral arrangements have been announced for Meath County Council member, Damien O'Reilly, who died suddenly at the weekend.

The 40 year-old Fianna Fail public representative died after taking ill on Saturday morning.

Cllr O'Reilly, a native of Oakridge Crescent, Dunboyne, lived at Mullagh, Kilcock, and has been a member of Meath County Council for a decade.

He will be reposing at his home at Mullagh on Wednesday from 4pm to 7pm, with a funeral Mass at 11am on Thursday in the Church of Ss Peter and Paul, Dunboyne, followed by burial in the Moynalvey cemetery.

Predeceased by his father Paddy, he is survived by his fiancé, Lisa; daughter, Carly; stepson, Kyle; mother, Phil; aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and a wide circle of friends.

His passing comes less than a week after the funeral on Monday last of Lisa's father, Thomas O'Malley, of Moynalvey.

The family requests private time at the house on Thursday morning. Family flowers only, and as Cllr Reilly was a keen champion of housing needs, donations in lieu have been requested for the Peter McVerry Trust, if desired.

Tributes have been flowing in for Cllr O'Reilly from the Tanaiste, Micheal Martin, and local government ministers, public representatives, and local community organisations since his untimely and unexpected passing at the weekend.

Cllr O'Reilly was chairman of the Ratoath Municipal Area Council, and of the Louth Meath Education and Training Board, and worked as a parliamentary assistant to Senator Aidan Davitt of Mullingar.
