Ashbourne's musical Mac Gabhann family for TG4 appearance this weekend

Ashbourne's Clann Mhic Gabhann feature on Sunday night next's 'Comhluadar Ceoil' ar TG4, where Ireland’s most musical families, groups and individuals perform and chat with presenter, Dáithí Ó Sé.

Head of the clan is Antóin Mac Gabhann whose pride at performing with his extended family is clear, a family completely immersed in Irish music and heritage.

Daughters Caitlín, Áine and Bernadette grew up surrounded by traditional music and dance and Caitlín tells Dáithí how lucky they were to have one of the best teachers of traditional music in the country as their father.

Antóin explains that hosting house céilís and sessions was a great way of getting to know like-minded families when they first moved to Ashbourne, and creating a social life for the whole family.

Caitlin talks about the joy of handing their love of traditional music and dance down to the next generation, to help preserve this important heritage.

In between chats with Dáithí, Clann Mhic Gabhann perform a lively and entertaining set list including reels which will have viewers tapping their feet!
