Kildalkey and O'Mahonys produce thriller as Kilskyre/Moylagh secure precious silverware

Matty Cully fires over late point to rescue Kildalkey in IHC showdown

In a game of relentless action and drama Kildalkey and Navan O'Mahonys finished level at Pairc Tailteann today - and now the teams must met again to decide who will be declared IHC champions.

In the curtain-raiser to today's double header of finals Kilskyre/Moylagh were left celebrating after they defeated Clann na nGael 2-12 to 0-11 to win the Junior 2 HC decider.

The action in the IHC final ebbed and flowed but at the end of extra-time the scoreboard read: Kildalkey 2-18, Navan O'Mahonys 3-15 after a thrilling game.

It looked like Kildalkey were going to win in normal time as they led with time almost up but they were denied by last-gasp Jack Walsh goal after a mother and father of a goalmouth scramble.

At the end of normal time the scoreboard read 2-14 to 3-11 and in extra-time O'Mahonys forged ahead but Kildalkey came back to rescue a draw with a last-gasp Matty Cully point from a 65.

The 65 was earned after O'Mahonys' goalkeeper John Foley saved an Enda Fitzgerald piledriver in the tense, heart-stopping final moments.

Derek Doran scored two goals for Kildalkey while Shane McCarthy and Sean McDermott also raised green flags for the Hoops in the exciting contest.

In the Junior 2 final Conor Briody and Ronan McGuinnes (penalty) scored the goals that boosted Kilskyre/Moylagh to a famous victory

Paddy Geraghty topscored for Clann na nGael with seven points but there was no stopping their opponents.
