Dunboyne AC on track
Today was a big day for Dunboyne AC as they opened their new tartan track with the club president Sean Conroy cutting the ribbon to officially open the new facility.
The track which cost in the region of 350,000 euro, is the culmination of years of hard graft by club members who were determined to get the facility up and running.
With the largest club membership of any athletics club in the country Dunboyne AC certainly have use for the track and they are likely to hold a number of major events at the Rooske Road venue in years to come.
Club chairman Phelim Glynn praised the "foresight and ambition" of club members who perservered over the years to make the dream become a realiy.
"They and others invested hundreds of hours of their time to develop what you see here today," he said.
Through grants and fund-raising efforts of members the club have also paid off any debt they accumulated in building the new track.
